Christmas Dinner and the Aussie summer/Aussie Icon Laundry Bag Challenge.

G'day all
It is time to start getting organised for this year's Christmas Dinner.

No, not the one on the 25th

- the BIG one -

 The Aussie Hero Christmas Dinner.

The date you need to remember is

Thursday 11 December

It will be a pot luck dinner with those who live locally, ie in Sydney, being asked to bring a plate.  I would really love a volunteer to coordinate the menu please.  If you are coming from interstate you will be excused and yes, I already have two people who are planning to travel to be here on the night and more have expressed interest.

The night is open to ALL - if you sew for us, then of course you are welcome. If you have received a quilt or a laundry bag, then we would love to have you here and even if you are just a regular blog and Facebook follower and support what we do, then you are also welcome.

In association with the night we will be having a laundry bag challenge.  This will be open to all of you around the country and that is why I am giving you plenty of warning.  I know it takes a little while for things to get here by snail mail from the West etc so I am giving you plenty of time.

The theme of the laundry bag challenge will be

Aussie Summer/Aussie Icon.

I have some very special recipients in mind for these bags but more on that at a later date.

Here is what you need to do.

Please make a laundry bag that fits with the theme...

Aussie Summer/Aussie Icon

and send it to

Aussie Heroes LBC (that stands for Laundry Bag Challenge)
PO Box 248
Cherrybrook,  NSW,   2126

It is to arrive with me no later than December 8th.

Please include a letter to your recipient inside the bag.  Please do not include anything else, no treats, no puzzle books, lip balm or whatever as it is too hard for me to store that stuff.

On the inside of the bag, USING A SAFETY PIN, please pin a piece of calico or similar (cos it won't tear like paper will) which has your name on it so there is NO CHANCE of me not knowing who made your work of art!

The winning laundry bags will be judged on the night.

Prizes will be awarded, and just to whet your appetite, here are some of the super special goodies that you stand a chance of winning.

How awesome are these patches!!!  These were sent to us by one of my lovely contacts over in Kabul and, obviously, were made up especially for us.  There are only a few of them so they are pretty special!!!

So mark the date in your calendar.

11 December 2014
Aussie Heroes Christmas Dinner.

Be there or be square!

Till next time...................keep spreading the word and happy stitching!

Jan-Maree xx
